The Year in Craft - 2021

As we approach the end of this busy year, we'd like to take an opportunity to look back on all the beautiful fiber creations that Tierra Wools and our fiber family have created. The act of making grounds us all and gives us a sense of purpose: we'd like to celebrate that impulse which we all share in this collection of creations made by Tierra Wools artisans and members of our fiber family throughout 2021.  We hope you find this collection as inspiring as we do!

January

We loved these fun earthy color combinations from our talented Tierra Wools weavers and were so impressed with the visual impact of the purples and golds in this delightful tapestry weaving by our fiber friend Michelle!

February

Molly had a pretty new black and white weaving on the loom this month while Lara showed off a completed tapestry featuring cool winter hues.

March

Toni had her first pictorial weaving in progress this month! We love seeing how each of you are always working on learning and trying new things.

April

We’re always busy with shearing and lambing at this time of year - essential activities so that we can continue to bring you the highest quality fibers.

May

Our showroom in Chama opened for the summer and the season of classes began in earnest with lots of lovely stripes from our beginning weaving classes!

June

Sophie was busy teaching warping this month while Molly finished a colorful new poncho and we admired the many shades of hand-dyed indigo.

July

We were so happy to invite handspinning spinning experts Asha Pollem and Janet Dominguez to join us at Tierra Wools for our all-new handspinning class!

August

These proud weaving students were happy to show off their creations made in Tierra Wools’ beginning and tapestry weaving classes.

September

Molly had mesas in a fiery sunset on the loom and Toni spent an afternoon gathering plants for use in our natural dyes.

October

We hosted our first yarn paint-dyeing class and our tapestry classes continued to impress us with their sense of color and design!

November

These students were all smiles as they posed with their new weavings agains a gorgeous autumn backdrop.

December

Tierra Wools introduced a brand new yarn line, Connie’s Blend, made with wool from heritage breeds! Designed especially for weaving, it’s available in two weights, Gordo (rug weight) and Manta (blanket weight).

Thanks for joining us on our fiber journey this year - we sincerely appreciate all the letters and photos you send to us.  We wish all of you a happy New Year and can’t wait to create with you in 2022!
